Planning a proposal in Charleston from out of town?

Most of my proposal clients plan their proposal around a romantic Charleston getaway. I know this city well, from the iconic spots to the quieter alleys, parks, and beaches that photograph beautifully without the crowds.

Rainbow Row is stunning but draws heavy tourist traffic, so timing matters. Early morning is when it works. White Point Garden, the Battery, South of Broad, Hampton Park, Waterfront Park, and the hidden alleyways of the French Quarter are all on my radar depending on your vision. I've even photographed a proposal on the Ravenel Bridge.

For a beach proposal, Isle of Palms is my personal favorite. The paths leading to the shore are lined with sea oats and wildflowers and make for a beautiful spot to pop the question before you ever step on the shore. One note: Sullivan's Island does not permit professional photographers, so if that location is important to you, you'll need a friend with a camera for that one.

For out-of-town clients, I send photos of the location and the exact spot to stand before you ever arrive. On the day of the proposal, I mark that spot with something from the environment, a flower, a grouping of leaves, so when you get there, you know exactly where to be. You tell me what you're imagining and I'll handle the rest. By the time you arrive, everything is already figured out. All you have to do is ask the question.
