Charleston Summer Senior Portraits for the Class of 2027
Charleston senior portraits are about more than just a yearbook photo. They are about capturing this exciting season of life in a way that feels natural, confident, and reflective of who you are right now.
From Charleston’s historic streets and hidden alleyways to quiet beaches at golden hour, summer offers beautiful light and incredible variety for senior portraits. Whether you envision downtown Charleston charm, coastal views, or a mix of both, I work with each senior to create an experience that feels thoughtful, effortless, and tailored to you.
As a Charleston senior photographer and a mom of three who has experienced this milestone myself, I understand how quickly this season moves. My goal is to create images that feel elevated, authentic, and timeless while giving you space to simply enjoy the experience.
Class of 2027: Charleston High School Seniors
Calling all rising seniors from Wando, Bishop England, Academic Magnet, Ashley Hall, Porter-Gaud, James Island Charter, Lucy Beckham, West Ashley, Charleston School of the Arts, and all Charleston area schools! Summer is the perfect time to plan your senior portrait experience and capture this special moment in your life.
Why Summer is the Perfect Time for Senior Portraits
Summer is the ideal time to schedule your senior session for several reasons:
Enjoy the experience without stress: Your senior year will be incredibly busy with college applications, senior projects, sports, and so much more. With summer sessions, you can truly enjoy the experience without watching the clock or worrying about tomorrow's exam. Plus, you'll have time to thoughtfully plan your session - I offer pre-session collaboration and planning calls to make sure we create exactly what you want.
Get ahead of yearbook deadlines: Most schools require senior portraits by early September, and booking a summer session means you'll have beautiful photos ready well before any deadlines.
Great weather and Longer Days: Charleston summers offer those golden-hour sunset opportunities with beautiful natural light that's perfect for portraits.
More availability: Summer means more flexibility to schedule on weekdays when popular locations are less crowded.
Family portraits included: I always reserve time at the end of each senior session for a few family portraits – these often become parents' most treasured keepsakes and are perfect for holiday cards. No need to book (or pay for!) a separate family session in the fall.
Make Your Senior Portraits Uniquely You
My approach to senior portraits blends lifestyle and documentary photography to capture who you are in a natural and artful way.
Creating an easygoing atmosphere that allows natural expression
Guiding you with simple prompts that result in natural expressions and poses
Incorporating your interests, hobbies, and personal style
Encouraging a variety of outfits from casual to elevated to showcase different sides of your style
I especially love working with senior girls to create a variety of looks from casual and natural to stylish and elegant. We can incorporate favorite outfits, accessories, and meaningful locations that reflect your style and interests.
I guide you when needed while also leaving room for candid moments and natural interaction. The result is a gallery that feels polished, effortless, and true to you.
What to Wear for Charleston Senior Portraits
Wondering what to wear? Don't stress! I'm here to help with:
Pre-session style consultation to help you choose outfits that photograph beautifully
Tips on coordinating colors and accessories that enhance your natural beauty
Advice on hair and makeup that looks fresh and timeless in photos
Guidance on selecting outfits that reflect different sides of your style and interests
I encourage my seniors to incorporate 2-3 outfits: something casual, something elevated, and something that reflects their interests or personal style.
Best Charleston Locations for Senior Pictures
Some seniors are drawn to downtown Charleston senior portraits with cobblestone streets, pastel homes, hidden alleyways, and historic architecture, while others are drawn to the coastal feel of beach senior portraits on Isle of Palms or Sullivan’s Island. Many of my seniors choose a combination of both for maximum variety. Charleston’s golden hour light just before sunset creates the soft, glowing tones that make senior portraits feel especially timeless and flattering.
The Charleston Stroll: Everyone knows Rainbow Row and the Pineapple Fountain, but I love guiding my seniors through the quieter corners of the French Quarter and South of Broad neighborhoods. We'll skip the touristy spots and explore secret alleyways, hidden gardens, and most photogenic (but less crowded) historic streets that make for unique, authentic Charleston backdrops.
Charleston's Waterfront: Waterfront Park with stunning harbor views and oak-lined paths make for iconic Charleston backdrops.
Daniel Island: Beautiful nature trails along the Wando River, scenic waterfront areas, and marshland views offer a peaceful setting away from the crowds.
Hampton Park: A local favorite with lush gardens, beautiful oak trees, and scenic bridges that most visitors miss entirely.
Isle of Palms (IOP): I know exactly where to find the quieter stretches of beach with natural dunes, sea oats, and wildflower paths that provide breathtaking coastal portraits away from the crowds.
Your favorite meaningful locations: Sports fields, favorite hangout spots, or places that tell your story.
