A Very Charleston Proposal:
Capturing the Magic of the Moment at the Battery

The Battery sets the scene naturally with oleander in bloom, historic homes, and waterfront views that draw visitors and photographers every single day. That last part worked in our favor. This couple came in from out of town, so we planned everything by phone in advance. I sent him an image of exactly where to stand and even marked the spot with chalk. Charleston is one of the most photographed cities in the country, so blending in as a sightseer was easy. As he approached, he knew the spot, he knew to take his time, and that gave me room to get into position and get the shots. When he got down on one knee, she had no idea I was there. After she said yes, we walked through the historic streets and kept shooting. The joy, the relief, the excitement. That is the part people forget to plan for and it is often the best part of the whole session.
